We are pleased to announce the first annual Midwestern Workshop on Curriculum Development in Information Assurance and Security (MWCDIAS). The MWCDIAS provides a unique opportunity for academics to learn, share and exchange information relating to teaching information assurance and security.
This year's workshop is divided into three parts. The first part focuses on information security in practice. During this part, there will be talks given by representatives from government and industry, as well as a small how-to workshop.
The second part of the workshop will cover classroom experiences. Three speakers will discuss the IAS courses they have taught. This is meant to give perspective on how different schools have handled the area.
The goal of the third part of the workshop is to bring together the first two. We will discuss the needs of an IAS curriculum, suggested by the talks in part one, in light of the different approaches described in part two. The goal of this discussion is to define specific IAS educational needs and refine the IAS curriculum.
